William Appling Singers & Orchestra

Founder and Conductor William Appling

William Appling Singers & Orchestra is one of the country's leading choral and instrumental ensembles. Founded in 1979 by conductor William Appling, WASO performs works of all styles and periods, and particularly champions the work of American composers.

Recordings by WASO have been released on the New World and the Albany record labels. These include
Wake Ev'ry Breath, music by America's first major composer, William Billings, a CD of works by the contemporary American composer Richard Wilson, and Shall We Gather, a program of American hymns and spirituals. Our newest release is The Revenge of Hamish, choral works by composer William McClelland. All WASO recordings are available at major record stores and internet CD sites.
